you have to tape it off. One piece down by the cuticle and the other all around. There is one lady o youtube that has the best tutorials on watermarbling. "simplepleasures" She has awesome designs and makes it look so easy!!

I'll have to try to tape. I did it a few times with patroleum jelly, gets to messy though.
