For my inspiration, I took myself to one of the most controversial and groundbreaking cities of the 80's; New York City. I thought a brick wall would be a great backdrop for some of the iconic images from the era, giving each piece a purpose. The images were carefully selected based on the year of popularity and their connection to NYC.

Here are all the colors, products, and tools I used to create this look.

I began with a base brick red all over color for my wall using acrylic paints.

Next, I began aging the brick with light and dark colors with a custom made sponge for size purposes.

Once dry, I painted in each brick with dark and light greys for depth. I used the Azature Black Diamond polish to add texture and sparkle to the grout.

My first element was graffiti spelling RUN DMC, born in Queens, NY. 5 colors went into each word, creating depth and making the graffiti look shiny.

My second element was a movie poster from the most iconic film of the 80's: E.T. Many colors were used for this image as well as glitter in the sky to represent stars.

I next added a sign directing passer-by's to the most iconic punk-rock bar in NYC, CBGB.

For my final element, I added a drain pipe and grass to really make the design feel like you were on the streets of NYC.

Lastly, to ensure a feminine edge, I came back with several metallics and added them to the pipe, posters, bricks, and graffiti.
