Step-by-Step Nail Art Tutorial

I selected many different polish colors to create my custom match to Dirty Sexy Money. The skin tones were used for my runway model, and the black red and white created my textile prints.

Here I apply the custom color on y natural nail models.

I used netting over unsealed shellac to create a snake skin print with loose pigments.

For this nail I created a popular tartan print with striping brushes.

I created a pocket flap with leopard print, making sure to shade the seam for a 3D effect.

My favorite design was this model working the runway. The tiny model took a lot of tweaking, but I was happy with outcome.

Here is my models right hand showing several textile prints.

keeping with the color and mixed textile theme, the left hand offers some other cohesive options.

The final look! This set mimics many of the current fashions on the fall 2013 runway. I chose these prints in honor of the fashions seen in the television show Dirty Sexy Money where fashion was everything! Each nail has a different look like the models on the runway this year and the characters of the show!

For this week's challenge I chose the very popular dusty blue green color by Misa Cosmetics cleverly named "Dirty Sexy Money" for my theme. For this challenge I wanted to use the fashions from the popular TV series Dirty Sexy Money as my inspiration, bringing current prints and trends from the runway to this design. The ensembles from the series seemed never ending and were always current and high end.
I chose textiles and trends from fall 2013 to create this eye catching design. Mixed prints and contrasting colors are everywhere in fashion currently and I wanted the nails to be as outspoken as some of those ensembles. I used black and white accents mostly, as it goes with everything, but added a pop of red as I loved the high contrast. A few gold accents were added for a touch of shimmer and shadowing was added around stitched details to give depth. I also added a runway model to bring the design home. Ultimately I am also very proud of the custom color I created to match the Original Misa product. I mixed colored gel lacquer for a perfect match on my natural nail model. It's hard for me to pick my favorite element of this set and I love that each design doesn't seem to compete with the others. Each print stands on its own, but also fits in as I kept the added colors to a minimum.
My Dirty Sexy Money design encompasses so many aspects of the fashion industry that I believe parts of, or the whole design, could work for any woman making them catwalk ready at a moment's notice.
