In this pre-challenge we were asked to hand paint our interpretation of a Nails Magazine cover picture.
With over 30 years worth of covers to choose from the April 1987 Cover just jumped out at me.
I love Babushka's, I remember playing with them for hours at my Grandmothers house when I was a young girl.
I also love the flowers and hand painted art that often adorns them.
I began by painting some Babushkas on practice tips to see how much detail I could get into the small space.
I decided to do all different colours of Babushka, as I wanted this design to be bright and stand out.
I hope you enjoy my work, and hopefully I make it to the next round.

Step-by-Step Nail Art Tutorial

My inspiration from the April 1987 Nails Magazine cover.

I have used all GellyFit Australia Gel Polish,

$1. I Started with a white base for the art.\n2. I then paint circles for the babushka faces.\n3. I continue painting the black outline.\n4. Here I start to fill in the outlined ares with the gel colours.$

Continue filling in the colours. Curing after each stage.

Start to add more details, like the red cheeks and lips. Curing at each stage.

Then begin adding more details, I used swirls and dots to add to the Babushka's scarf.

I used a matte top coat so as the details can be easily seen. I made the thumbs a rose pattern to represent the Babushka's dresses, which usually have hand painted flowers.
