NTNA '14 LA FRENCH MANICURE Week 3

Risk Rock is an LA graffiti artist. His style closely emulates mine with his color blending and dripping paint. This photo, specifically, is in the Arts District in downtown Los Angeles, form his "Beautifully Destroyed" series.  

This one is in Miami, but it has more colors in it and played a very big part in my decision to go with him as my inspiration.  

First I start with a fresh set of almond shaped nails. I apply one coat of white gel polish midway through the nail bed. I then top coat, cure, remove the inhibition layer and buff away the shine to prepare for the design.  

Next, I use all acrylic paint to start the colored background.  

Here I refined the background by using standard and regular polish to highlight and add splatters and lines.  

Instead of having a traditional half moon, I chose to use something I saw in one of Risk's pictures and do a graffiti half moon with my signature dripping paint.  

Lastly, I added the one thing I know LA for, the deep smile line. It can never be an LA french manicure without the smile line going way up the side of the nail. I used Young Nails Kaleidoscope Gel paint to draw my french tip. I then applied gel top coat twice and cured for 120 seconds each layer.
