This is my entry for the Next Top Nail Artist 1st assignment 80s inspired. Everything on this nail is hand painted with the exception of the silver stars that are prefabricated and the hand carved stars that I made to ad a 3d effect

Step-by-Step Nail Art Tutorial

1
I used a prefabricated tip and painted the whole tip with black nail polish. Once that was dry I mixed neon different colored acrylic paints with a bit of white acrylic pain to get the desired colors and hand painted the zebra stripes and stars

I wanted to do a Madonna face so I found a pop art photo of her on the web and began to paint the shape of her face with white acrylic paint. This is my first time ever attempting to paint a face :)

I finished her face (2 hours) and then painted 2 boxes that would house my rubix cube and cassette tape. I used white acrylic paint and outlined the boxes with black acrylic paint. This took about 4 coats of the white paint to get the look I wanted

Next I painted the cassette tape and rubix cuce in the white boxes and painted some music notes at the bottom over the stars ( I later removed the music notes from the design)

Next I added a third white box again using white acrylic paint slightly overlapping the rubix cube and cassette tape boxes. Here you see one coat of the white paint for the box. I did 3 more coats

This photo is a close up of the rubix cube, cassette tape ( with madonnas name), the Nintendo controller and Madonnas face. At this point I desided to paint over the music notes and I did so with black polish

I wanted to make some 3d stars so I used neon acrylics and placed them on a form for easy removal. I made them different sizes and made them flat.

Once the acrylic was hardened I removed them from the form and used a pensil to outline the shapr of a star to guide me cutting out the shapes. I used a carbide bit and cut out the stars and then used black acrylic paint to outline the stars or add a black outline of a star in the middle

To finish off the nail I top coated with a clear polish and then used nail glue to attatch the different stars that I hand made along with some prefabricated silver stars for a cool 3d effect. Then I added some clear polish to the stars to make them shine like the rest of the nail and VOILA. My 80s Inspired nail art. Total time from start to finish 5.5 hours broken up between days
