Helsinki, oh, Helsinki

First I made the cobblestone street, Helsinki is practically build over cobblestone, it is EVERYWHERE and you better watch your feet when you walk. \n\nI started by painting the tips gray and adding balls of gel to represent the stones. I painted the stones and added matte gel top coat in between the stones. I sprinkled nail dust on the matte top coat and then cured it to give it texture. \n  

The Cathedral was made of three pillars and a gel square, I attached the parts together with gel. Then I painted the details with gel polish.\n  

The statue of Mannerheim is really famous. I build it with hard gel and painted the details with gel polish. It was practical to make the statue two dimensional and layer gel to strategic places, like the arms and horses legs.\n  

The Three Smiths statue was made the same way as the statue of Mannerheim. I used hard gel to build it and painted the details with gel polish.\n  

Helsinki railway station is an impressive building. The statues are called The Lantern Carriers. I started with making the molds out of blue tack, I build gel on top of them. Then I painted the details.\n  

Cruises are a popular past time activity in Finland. We love to travel to Stockholm (hejsan Celina!) or to Estonia for the weekend. I split the "street" and replaced it with a plate of gel. I painted the plate metallic blue to resemble water. I build the ship over a blue tack mold and painted the details with gel polish. I used a nail art chain attached to gel poles to resemble a handrail.\n  

For the Linnanmäki Ferris wheel I made a gel plate and a same sized wheel. I painted the wheel silver and drilled holes for the carriages.  

I made the carriages and attached them to the Ferris wheel with wire. I drilled a hole on the plate and added a machine from a musical box to make the wheel spin.
