This weeks challenge invites us to take inspiration from a vintage fashion piece or period and make a nail design on one hand using only products by this weeks sponsor, Akzents. I wanted to great a stunning, eye catching design that shows technique and cleanliness. I was drawn to take my inspiration from the Roaring 20's era. The products I was given included some gorgeous chromes, silvers and golds... These colors reminded me of flapper dresses and Art Deco and so my inspiration was born.

Using a tip, size how large you wish to create your 3D piece. Draw out the shape of 3 diamonds over lapping . Covering with wax paper now, use Akzents balance gel and gently form the shape of the diamonds, following the patterns underneath. Make the diamonds individually, you will eventually connect them later. Once you have your 3 diamonds, file down the edges making clean crisp edges. Once your perfect diamonds are formed, connect them using nail resin. Now these 3 diamonds will have formed a balanced art deco appearance, use Akzents Black-On and cure. Apply gold pearlescent powder to most of the piece with a make-up applicator but be careful to only lightly dust, not rub, towards the bottom portion. This will give your 3D piece a vintage feel. Now using black gel play, outline the top of the first diamond and partial outline to the middle diamond and cure. Also using black gel play, follow the shapes of the diamond downwards but create an ombre feel to help add a distressed look so it fades into the chrome and cure. Using gold gel play, fill in the top frame of the first diamond and add some filigree patterns at the base of the nail at the center of your bottom diamond, cure. Use black fluid acrylic paint to the inside of the gold for added tone and texture. Repeat at the top center of the nail but reverse your color scheme. Finish with Akzentz Shine-On
