I was totally inspired by the overall look of the cover for NAILS January issue 1984. We weren't allowed to recreate it exactly so here is what I came up with! I wanted to choose something from 1984 because that is the year my husband was born so I was happy when I looked and the January issue just jumped right out at me!

Step-by-Step Nail Art Tutorial

To start, prepare your nails for a gel polish application

Apply 2 coats of a felt green gel polish, curing each layer for the required amount of time

Using a gold acrylic paint, paint Dollar signs on each nail in a random fashion

Using a dotting tool and a fine detailer brush, add in spades, diamonds, hearts and clubs with black and red paints. This is the back ground.

Using gel polish, paint 2 rectangular silver shapes on the pinkie and ring finger, this is the base of your slot machine. On the middle and index finger, paint 2 halves of a circle. Add the white for the cards and also add some small white squares in random places

Add details to the slot machine, cards and dice.

Add out lining details to the cards on the thumbs, the poker chip, add more details to the slot machine.

Paint the final details on the poker chip and fully out line the slot machine. Go over all nails (make sure the acrylic paints are all dry!) with a UV or LED top coat and cure for the required time
