We were asked to focus on Entity’s Core Acrylic Line, and create the ultimate sculpted pink-and-white look. The nails must be sculpted on a model’s hand. No tips were allowed. Then NAILS mag wanted to see us turn our pink-and-white look into a haute couture masterpiece. We needed to take it one step further and embellish the nails any way we chose. While they wanted the pink and whites made from acrylic, we could us any mediums to embellish the nails.
Step-by-Step Nail Art Tutorial
1
Apply one coat of gel base coat to each tip. Before curing, place little pieces of iridescent mylar shavings randomly within the feather waves. Cure for the recommended time in a LED or UV lamp. Next, using a frosted fine white sparkle or an additive pigment, brush on to each tip using a circular motion to create a burnished look.
2
Apply a marquise cut gem to each center of the nails, anchoring them with acrylic.
3
Randomly, glue swarovski crystals inside the waves along the top half of the tips.
4
Apply an "S" shaped swarovski crystal to the center of each tip. These will create an illusion of longer length and add to enhancing the visual movement in the design.
5
Add a few Athena Rocks ZaZa Bubbles in different sizes to random parts of the lower half of the tips. Anchoring them with a builder gel will ensure a good grip. Place a few iridescent beads in a line along the edge of the waves to create a floating effect.
6
Cut different lengths of a silver ball chain with a cutting plier. Apply a small ball of acrylic to the underside of the tip and place the end of one piece of the chain inside the wet bead of acrylic. Once dry, carefully wrap the chain around to front of the tip and drape the remaining chain along to the end. Add a touch of glue to the part of the chain where the tip ends leaving the rest of the chain to dangle freely. Drill a small hole in the ring finger tip.
7
Create a hook out of jewelry wire and feed one end through the bird charm and the other end through the nail tip. Apply triangle studs just above the marquise gems to complete the look. Using a wipe free top coat, cover all the acrylic areas, avoiding the swarovski crystals so that you don't take away their beautiful sparkle.
