This is my entry for Nails NTNA pre challenge. I choose the cover from January 1984 to do my design. We were asked to create a set of 5 nails and hand paint them. We had to choose from over 30 years of covers. I hope you enjoy!

Step-by-Step Nail Art Tutorial

1
I first started by sculpting out square nails with circles and 4 different suits on the end of the square. I then painted each nail completely with white polish.

I used acrylic paint to paint each poker chip a different color. I painted the suits all black. I outlines the tip of the white with a thin black line.

On the thumb I sculpted a long square nail. I painted the nail green and painted thin white lines to replicate a black jack table. I used green polish to clean up the white lines to make them precise.

I painted cards and hands on the nail using acrylic paint. I went in with a small striping brush and painted in the detail of the cards. I painted on the words that are on a black jack table. I top coated the nail with a matte top coat.

I painted a darker shade around the chips to give it some dimension. I then painted amounts with gold acrylic paint.

On the pinky nail, I painted a design to represent the back of a playing card. I put white lines first and then went back in with the blue and dotted in where the white lines cross. Then I out lined black around the white nails to start the cards. I cleaned up the black line with white acrylic.

On the index finger, I painted the out line of the king card first with black acrylic. Going back in cleaning up any lines that needed it with white acrylic. I then went in with red yellow and blue, filling in the middle part of the king. I painted red diamond in the corners of the card.

I painted a red diamond in the middle of the ring finger cleaning edges up with white acrylic. Painted small aces in the corners with small diamonds underneath that. On the middle finger, I finished off the design with painted 21 with acrylic paint. Cleaning up the white with green polish.
