For this Challenge from Orly we take a trip down The Strip as an ode to the history of Sunset Strip. It has such a rich history that I didn't want to miss anything out. My color selection was done to not only fit in with the club scene that the person wearing it will appreciate. The silhouettes and backgrounds speak to the happenings in and around Sunset Strip, some of the things we will only get to read about and never experience ourselves.

Create a black base on each nail using black gel polish. Cure.\n\nIn order to create a shimmer background, mix Quartz Pigment with black gel polish.\n

I have chosen an ombre shimmer background to represent driving along Sunset Strip by night. The colors of the billboards, clubs and cars blend subtly to create their very own background.\n\nCreate an ombre background on each tip using the above-mentioned mix. Apply the ombre at an angle, starting with one color on the top third of the nail. Do not cure. Clean your application brush and select the next color, apply it to the middle third of the nail. Do not cure. Clean and dry your application brush and brush over the area where the two colors meet to blend. Clean your application brush and apply the third color following the procedure above. Cure the nail. Seal with a Top Gel, cure and cleanse.

The pole dancers, or as some like to be called, "pole artists" can be found in many clubs along The Strip. (Wonder if thatโs where the name really came from ;-)). To start off with I created a stick figure with black gel polish to give me a guideline as to the figure of the dancer. I used black gel polish to create the complete figure and pole. Cure.\n\nUsing white acrylic paint, thinned out slightly with water, and a very thin art brush #0000 I created the outline/silhouette of the pole and dancer. \nOne of my dancers have a bling bling hair accessory and this is created by applying some Top Gel and adding metal beads. Apply a drop of white gel polish to the design at random open areas using a dotting tool.\n\nUsing your thin art application brush, draw thin lines from the center of the dot outward. I have done four longer lines and four shorter lines to create the stars. Cure. Seal the entire design with Top Gel and apply Swarovski Crystals into the center of the stars. Cure and cleanse.\n\nThe stars not only represent the movie stars that you may have the good fortune of coming across on your trip down Sunset Strip, but they also represent Sunset Strip by night and the glitz and glamor of the club scene.

It was in the 1920's that Sunset Strip became so renown for gambling, so taking a trip down memory lane I decided to add some casino elements into my design.\nThe "Four of a Kind" was created using black gel polish as the base. Cure.\n\nUsing white acrylic paint and a thin art brush I outlined the set and added the ace detail to the hand.\n\nThe roulette table and dice were created in the same way with a black gel polish base and white acrylic paint to detail. I was lucky on this roll and my metal stud (representing the roulette ball) landed on my dad's lucky number 17!

Sunset Strip offers many opportunities for up and coming singers and bands, so I decided to create two images of singers singing their hearts out.\n\nThe silhouette was created using black gel polish and the silhouette is outlined and detailed in white acrylic paint. Our female singer is sporting a choker which I enhanced with Top Gel and placed silver metal beads on before curing.

Whether Punk Rock or Glam Rock blows your hair back or not, Sunset Strip was the place to be in the 1960/1970's where bands like Guns 'n Roses, Van Halen, The Stooges, Motley Crew often appeared. As an ode to them I included part of one of the Guns 'n Roses logos on my design. The base of the skull was created in black gel polish, the teeth in white gel polish and the roses in black gel polish. The roses start out as a bead of gel in the center and then with a thin application brush each end is extended to wrap around the bud. Cure.\n\nAfter curing the silhouette is outlined in white acrylic paint. I wanted to add some pizazz to the skull so I sealed the entire design with top gel and placed various sized Swarovski Crystals into the skull and filled up the gaps using metal beads. Cure and cleanse.\n\nThis was one of the guitars that survived being broken during one of the Punk Rock concerts and is created using a base of black gel polish. Cure.\n\nThe silhouette and additional detail are added using white gel polish and white acrylic paint. Using white gel polish I created some barok curls on the guitar. Cure.\n\nThe strings of the guitar were created by using metallic thread which has been placed and cured in the top gel. "Orly Rock" is a reality!\n

Sunset Strip would not be complete without representing the billboards one sees wherever you go!\n\nThe base of the billboards is created using black and white gel polish. The lettering for casino, Pepsi and Kiss is done using black and white acrylic paint. Seal the design with Top Gel and place Swarovski Crystals along the casino billboard to represent lights lighting the way. Cure.

The names Bugsey Siegel and Mickey Cohen are synonymous with Sunset Strip. Besides the fact that they owned restaurants along the strip, they are also gangsters, so I included an older model revolver to the design. The base was created using black gel polish. The silhouette was created using white acrylic paint and a thin nail art brush. This could never be a normal revolver, so I encrusted the handle with Swarovski Crystals and silver metal beads. Cure.
