Week 5: Decade Decadence (Sponsored by Akzentz):
Akzentz wanted us to create our favorite decade on 10 nail tips using only gel products and additional items. I chose the 80's because it's not just a decade; it's a state of mind. The 80's pop culture is so innocent. Lyrics described the horrors of the world but the tunes were so happy it was almost eery. I love the colors of the eighties, creativeness of the electronic music and the playfulness of the eighties movies. I added scenes from my favorite 80's movies, Tron, Ghostbusters and Back to the future. I really enjoyed painting the eighties fabric styled nails and it gave me joy to create the 3D nails using only gel.
Step-by-Step Nail Art Tutorial

DeLorean is famous from the movie Back to the future. I created the car using hard gel, then I painted the base and the details using gel polish. Then I filed the sides. I attached the car to a spring.

I made three squares using hard gel, filed the sides and attached them together using glue. Then I painted the sides with gel polish.
3
The Ghostbuster's Stay Puft Marshmallow Man was made with using playdough molds and hard gel. First I made the torso of playdough and then covered it with hard gel. I cured the gel and dug the playdough out and painted the details with gel polish. I finished the Marshmallow Man with a layer of matte top coat.

Madonna got a pink shimmer chrome base color. Then I painted the white base for her figure, added her black silhouette lines and the neon star around her.
5
First I painted the black base and the fabric pattern with white gel polish. For the splashes I mixed acetone and white gel polish and splattered the drops on the nail with a fan brush. Then I finished the look with different neon colors.
6
I made the 3D decorations with hard gel and attached them on the nail with glue. I painted the details with gel polish and used chrome powder on the sunglasses.
