During the 80’s, if I’m not playing outside, you can usually find me glued in front of the TV watching cartoons. So you can imagine my excitement when I found out this week’s challenge! Without even thinking, I decided to do a cartoon inspired design to bring back the good old days! So here is my interpretation of the 80’s! Hope you enjoy it!
Step-by-Step Nail Art Tutorial
1
To achieve this design, I used these items.
2
Apply gradient technique on nail tip as base. I used 4 different China Glaze colors, and sponged on the gradient.
3
With acrylic paint, outline Rainbow Brite and finish with shading and details accordingly.
4
Next, we move on to Baby Tugs from the Care Bears! Using the same concept, outlining first, and add in the shading and details after.
5
The 80's isn't complete with Jem and the Halograms. Using acrylic paint, I created a gradient effect for the logo, and coated it with some holographic shimmers on top. To make it more "sticker" like, I outlined the logo with white acrylic paint.
6
That concludes the hand painted flat art portion of this design!
7
Next up, I'm sure we've all played with it at some point in our childhood! The Rubik's Cube: Make the protruding Rubik's Cube out of Acrylic, and paint on the individual blocks with acrylic paint.
8
Place the Ribik's Cube on the finished nail, and secure with glue. Bring the nail to a high shine with a gel top coat!\n\nVOILA! Now Baby Tug is holding the Rubik's Cube!!
