In this VERTICAL mural i created an map of Southern California depicting many of the staple attractions in the area!

Step-by-Step Nail Art Tutorial

In this photo, I have included all the colors used and mixed into this mural.

I started polishing the coast line of Southern California first.

I next added the Pacific Ocean with Acrylic Paints.

I sponged on layers of teal, navy, and black to create a fade and depth to the ocean.

I started adding elements, like an orange for The OC.

A sliver of Mexico was added to the south representing the Latino Culture of the region.

Further north in the mural, Graumans Theatre was added near Hollywood.

I added solid, dashed, and dotted lined to represent infrastructure in the region.

Script was added in the ocean near Long Beach where the Next Top Nail Artist finals will be held!

The complete look! Lego land, Sea World, Disney, The Dodgers, the Surf Museum, the Catalina's, and more make this mural purely Southern California!

I had so much fun with this Southern California mural, it almost felt like I was taking a vacation while creating it! I wanted to mix things up by doing a vertical mural for this challenge, depicting a “map” of Southern Cali with many details specific to the region! I chose a wide variety of iconic images, as I tried to be all inclusive with this mural. Sit back and relax as we cruise down the coast!
To the “North” you will find Santa Barbara, where the Surf Museum is located. As we move south, you find yourself in the Hollywood Hills with Grauman’s Chinese theatre nearby. The end of Route 66 can be found near Los Angeles and their beloved Dodgers. Next on our journey is none other than Long Beach, which as we know will be hosting the Next Top Nail Artist finals! After the finals, I hope to hop on over to nearby Anaheim for a trip to Disneyland. Further south of the Magic Kingdom a luscious orange representing “The OC” awaits you. The Sea World and Lego Land logos preside near my representation of the Santa Ana’s. In San Diego itself you will find the logo for their ultra-famous Zoo. I couldn’t neglect the states connection with Mexico, so I made sure our South American brothers and sisters were represented in this mural as well! Finally, in the Pacific Ocean, the compass points you back north towards the Catalina Island(s).
Unfortunately for now, the ride has come to an end, until January! I hope you enjoyed your journey and please stay seated until the ride has come to a complete stop 
